American-based Ghanaian entertainment blogger, Phylx Akakpo has stated the reason why Ghanaian artists are lacking behind and not making an effort to create a space in the global market with their craft after they blow out.
Speaking in an interview with “ChatWithAshmen” on Facebook, He said, Ghanaians are losing it because some of the artists find it unnecessary to push their music further to the large market and feel comfortable in the tiny space they create in Ghana and that’s why Nigerians are always ahead of us because each and every day they in are such of opportunities to sell out their crafts and that’s what the Ghanaian artist should learn from.
He also lamented on Plugs outside the music industry and says one of the reasons why they’re not able to get too many plugs is the hatred in the industry of which he has experienced it and can boldly testify to that in his comfort zone.
Too much competition in the music sector is believed to be the rationale why Ghanaian music hasn’t gotten the proper response it wants in the world at large, unlike the Nigerian Music Industry.
A few months ago, Nigerian Artists like BURNA BOY, WIZKID and DAVIDO took half of the world by storm with their music and also got the chance to perform on bigger platforms like Davido who holds the record of being the only African artist to perform on the opening of FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar which will take place in a few months from now.
