Wizkid Pays Tribute To Davido At His Madison Square Garden Concert

Nigerian music sensation, Wizkid paid tribute to his rival, Davido at his Madison Square Garden concert in New York, USA. The Grammy winner recently thrilled New York City with a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden (MSG) where he expressed his condolences to the grieving singer who lost his son some weeks ago

During Wizkid’s performance, DJ Tunez played Davido’s 2011 smash hit song “Dami Duro” to the admiration of the crowd.

The gesture charged up fans as they clapped and danced to show appreciation to Wizkid for the rare gesture.

In the video which has viral on social media, Wizkid humbly said; “Davido we love you, OBO we love you”… this one is for Davido” as the singer’s music played loudly for the concert.

The video which has got much attention also shows the moment when the venue goes into brief darkness to further mourn the tragic death of the 3-year-old.

The excited audience joins to begin to sing Davido’s “Dami Duro” song as it is played. Nigerians on social media don begin to react and shower praises given by Wizkid in support and love for Davido.

Recently, the popular Nigerian Afrobeat star, David Adeleke Aka Davido lost his three-year-old son. Police in Lagos state come to arrest eight of Davido’s domestic workers.

Benjamin Hundeyin says the incident happened on Monday night on 31 October when one of the domestic workers go report to the police station.

Later on 5 November, the police came to reveal the result of the autopsy and it was the cause of the death of Ifeanyi’s death is ”drowning”.

Police later release some of di domestic staff.

The police told BBC Pidgin the suspects have been transferred to the state criminial investigation department (SCID) Yaba area of the state for further investigation.

Ifeanyi is the son of Davido and his  Fiance, Chioma Rowland.

The act is understood to be a message of support to Davido and Chioma over the recent loss of their son, Ifeanyi who drowned and died in the pool back in October at the family’s residence in Lagos State.

Wizkid and Davido kindled reconciliation rumours some months ago after the two had what we could call one of the Nigerian music industry’s biggest beef.

Although the reason for their strained relationship remained unknown, it can be traced as far back as 2011, during their startup days in the industry.

Meanwhile Davido and his fiancée Chioma Rowland are yet to respond to their son’s death.

He has, however, cancelled his Are We African Yet (A.W.A.Y) concert which was slated to hold in November 2022.

The event has been rescheduled for November 2023.
