Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has publicly stated that he’s the reason the Afro-Dancehall genre of music got popularised in the international world.
According to the BHIM Boss, his collaborations with dancehall giants including Bounty Killer, Richard Stevens, Alpha Blondy, and Shaggy helped pushed the genre and made it famous.
In an interview with AJ Sarpong on Citi 97.3 FM he said the “GIDIBA” hitmaker stated;
“I have been on the same stage with Shaggy, I have done Bounty Killer, Richard Stevens, Alpha Blondy, etc. I am doing a lot to project the afro-dancehall…realistically I am the one who sold afro-dancehall to the World. Oh, yes, I am the one,” Stonebwoy confidently said.
In the past few years, the Afro-dancehall genre has been championed by big names including Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souljah, Nigeria’s Orezi, Samini, Shatta Wale, Mzvee, and Ghana’s Stonebwoy.
The genre, originating in the 70s, is an Africanised version of Dancehall, made famous by Nigerian and Ghanaian artists.
