Chance The Rapper Eyes On Hosting The Next Black Star Line Festival in Kingston, Jamaica

American recording artist, Chance The Rapper hopes of staging the next Black Star Line Festival in Jamaica hopefully next year.

 

The multi-platinum-selling rapper made the comments during an interview with The Tonight Show’s host Jimmy Fallon on Monday night. It aired on NBC.

“We’re actually thinking about hosting the next one in Kingston, Jamaica,” Chance said of the Black Star Line fest.

The inaugural festival was held in Ghana in January and it reportedly attracted more than 52,000 patrons.

“It was very successful,” he disclosed. Among the performers on the lineup were Erykah Badu, Dave Chappelle, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys and M.anifest.

The next staging is scheduled for January 2024.

The Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer is set to join season 23 of The Voice, for which he’s the newest coach. His forthcoming album Star Line Gallery is scheduled for release later this year.

Among the rapper’s hit songs are Angles, No Problem, I Might Need Security, Confident featuring Justin Bieber and Best Life featuring Cardi B.

He has to date released five mixtapes and one full-length studio album, 2019’s The Big Day, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

 

Chance the Rapper has to date sold more than 10 million singles in North America.

The Black Star Line Festival, which is co-promoted by Vic Mensa, was inspired by civil rights leader Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line, which was founded in 1919 and operated by Black people who helped link global shipping and tourism opportunities between America, the Caribbean and Africa.
