“My Allowance As SRC President Is Seed Fund For The “Onua Pa” Fund In GIMPA” – Samini

Highly celebrated Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall recording artist Samini have disclosed some of the initiatives he is establishing as the current SRC President at GIMPA University.

The “Iskoki” hitmaker in Ghana’s National Television GTV breakfast morning show with Kafui Dey reveals he doesn’t touch the monthly allowances given to him as SRC President of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

“My allowance as SRC President is seed fund for the “ONUA PA” fund in GIMPA, aimed at supporting able but needy students to go through school,” He said.

Samini said he didn’t go to school to pursue student leadership hence a circle friend on campus approach him with the idea of him standing for President since he got the power to influence people and also in terms of needs in order to bring vibrant excellent action into GIMPA SRC so he spoke to a few people to sort ideas as to how he should go about and finally it happens he is the SRC President at GIMPA noted it wasn’t a cool chop for him to grab that position says he has to go through the usual procedures as the politicians do.

He also listed some of the challenges he is facing as the leader of such a great institution.

“You know student’s needs, student hopes for a better environment to learn and then to network and to do everything, it speaks and it doesn’t reach the school administration as it should so when you are the student leader you get to hear from the highest to the lowest complains of students.

“Most of it is about fee increment and registration time laps, how much time they have to register and whoever qualifies after a certain date and all of that and how difficult it is and most of it is based on how much fees you can pay before a certain period so then it comes backs to economics and that’s where the main problem is people have issues with paying to keep going to school”, He said

He stressed that GIMPA is not a free institution obviously you are going to know what it takes to be in that institution.

“GIMPA is not a free institution so obviously you’re gonna know what it takes to be in that institution and then try and fund yourself through it, we have various scholarship programs that people who qualify for are able to access but on the general broad spectrum you have to be able to fund yourself through so personally before I will even take on the office position I had an individual student approach me, like you know as an artist, as a peoples person you would have people who think you have or expect you would have genuinely to sort them out

So what I use to do was or what I have been doing is I look at your academic performance, I look at what kind of student you are if you’re a “Straight A”  student and you are doing good and you can pay your fees I do it for you low key and nobody knows about it but on a bigger spectrum the students need a certain aid to be able to help people who are able and can’t afford so I as part of the things I did during my term I launched the “ONUA PA” found which is aimed at supporting able but needy students to go through school

So my allowance as a President everything that am supposed to earn is through that as the seeds money and I then pour a bit more in there and everybody that likes the idea will get the opportunity to put something in there and is gonna run through that if we have “A STRAIGHT STUDENTS” IN GIMPA who needs financial aid through school they will be able to access that fund”.
