Israel Maweta, Winner of “Traditional Song of the Year” at VGMA 2003 with his hit song “Akume He”, has entreated budding Musicians and Music Createurs in the Volta Region to use this upcoming weekend to the best of their benefit as this year’s VGMA Nominees’ Jam returns to the Region.
In a post he made on social media, he highlighted that,
“Good to know this year’s Ghana Music Awards Nominees’ Jam is coming to Volta Region again. Speaks volumes about our new generation of amazing talents in the Region especially, doing their best to get mainstream recognition. I pray the young music talents take advantage of this great opportunity to exhibit their craft on the platform too.”

The Veteran Ghanaian African Traditional Musician, by birth as a Ghanaian, went into a 7-year hiatus before breaking the silence last month with his comeback single titled “I No Go Blame You”, produced by CaskeysOnit. The song is a contemporary Afrobeats jam with Amapiano, Choral and Traditional influences. The song and video are both out now on Major Digital Streaming Platforms.
He has at least 18 Albums to his credit for his 22-year music career. He is best known for African Traditional Music, he explores multiple genres such as Borborbor, Agbadza, Kinka, Zigi, Appellations et al which are more aligned to his homeground, Volta Region; but aside these indigenous genres, he does Gospel, Highlife, (contemporary) Afrobeats and Reggae as well.
