“Highlife Music Can Never Die” – Legendary Pat Thomas

Ghanaian highlife musician, Pat Thomas has debunk the notion that Highlife music is no long in existence after some years of it establishment.

The “Sika Ye Mogya” hitmaker on TV3NewDay quash the conception about the genre when he got push to the wall by Berla Mundi who asked him if candidly HIGHLIFE is dead.

In his response, he told the host the genre which made him who he is today can never die as far he is still alive and also gave some meaningful reason why the genre is not dead.

“Don’t ask me that question again, never i mean we many have musicians doing Highlife even the young guys are also doing highlife but just that they try to differentiate it to sell themselves like Afropop, afro this, afro that, is all highlife i bet you. They are trying to shift it a bit but it’s still Highlife, He said.

An evening of outstanding music performances dubbed the Pat Thomas Highlife Night scheduled to come off on Friday, August 4 has been launched to celebrate veteran Highlife musician, Pat Thomas for his years of dedication and hard work to the Ghanaian music industry.

The launch hosted at Alisa Hotel, Ridge, Accra on Monday May 22 was attended by representatives from the creative industry, including the Ghana National Folklore Board, National Commission on Culture(NCC), and  Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Pat Thomas Highlife Night which will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC), will feature classic performances by some of Ghana’s best Highlife artistes such as Kuami Eugene, KK Fosu, Kwabena Kwabena, among others.

In addition to paying tribute to the veteran Highlife act, the concert also aims at providing a stage for up-and-coming Highlife musicians to develop their abilities and network with key people in the creative industry.
