Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, more commonly referred to as Bullgod, is a well-known artist manager who has spoken out about how the murder allegations made against him by dancehall musician Shatta Wale affected his brand. Bullgod revealed in an interview with Nana Romeo that aired on Accra FM on February 19, 2025, that despite starting legal proceedings against Shatta Wale for defamation, the musician has yet to comply with the terms of the agreement, including paying Bullgod’s legal fees.
He emphasized that despite Shatta Wale’s private apology, he still anticipates a public apology as part of the settlement. I filed a GH1 million defamation lawsuit against him. Setting things right was more important to me than the money. As a result, we came to a consent judgment in which he was required to pay for my legal fees and offer a public apology, but he has not done either of those things. He stated that the case has been returned to court and the judge has instructed him to comply. Bullgod acknowledged that despite the fact that the allegations had a negative impact on his career and mental health, the experience had helped him grow.
It haunted me for some years. It weighed on my mind, but I have since moved on. I see it as a sign from God. Sometimes, we don’t understand God’s ways… but I am certain that this situation has played a role in shaping where I am today. Some people may hesitate to work with me because of it, while others may see it differently. Either way, it’s a win-win for me, he added.
In November 2022, Shatta Wale publicly accused Bullgod of being involved in the murder of Fennec Okyere, the late manager of Kwaw Kese.
Bullgod’s legal team then went to the Accra High Court to file a defamation lawsuit, arguing that Shatta Wale’s statements were not only hurtful but also very inappropriate given that the case was still being investigated. Bullgod requested a court declaration that Shatta Wale’s remarks were malicious and defamatory in order to seek redress. According to reports, Bullgod’s legal team was open to a non-court settlement by March 2023.

However, it has recently emerged that as part of the agreement, Shatta Wale was expected to compensate Bullgod financially and issue a formal apology.
According to Bullgod, neither of these commitments has been fulfilled.
